Brain techniques to improve cognitive functions and reduce hyperactivity.
Sleep, oxygen and ADHD in children and adults. A talk by Rachel Langford, Neuroscientist (MSc. Med, MBPsS) for parents and teachers
Time & Location
08 Dec 2019, 19:00 – 21:00 GMT
156 Golders Green road , Golders Green, London NW11, UK
About the event
Have you ever wondered why your child:
- CAN’T FOCUS AND CONCENTRATE?
- NEEDS TO BE TOLD OFF OR TOLD WHAT TO DO TOO OFTEN?
- TAKES A LONG TIME TO GO TO SLEEP?
- SOMETIMES WORRIES A LOT?
- FINDS IT HARD TO DEAL WITH FRUSTRATION?
AND WHAT TECHNIQUES CAN BE USED TO HELP THEIR BRAIN DEAL BETTER WITH THE ABOVE?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects about 5% of school-aged child. Previous published works using different techniques of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have demonstrated that there may be some differences between the brain of people with and without this condition. We will get familiar with those differences and mainly – with what can be done about it, in the school and home setting.
We will discuss the brain frequency of sleep and how ADHD and sleep are related, we will introduce brain imagining technique that can teach the brain how to produce the right amount of oxygen in the prefrontal cortex and how this can influence cognitive functions and reduce hyperactivity, and mainly – we will present tools and the science behind them, that can help the brain reduce hyperactivity and improve cognitive functions.
Some scientific tools we will mention might be surprisingly familiar to you and yet often forgotten…
In this talk we wiil discuss:
- Sleep patterns, brain activity and sleep habits in ADD/ADHD
- Breathing patterns in hyperactive children and how they affect brain performance.
- Shining light on the head: Photo-bio-modulation for brain disorders.
- Tools to improve cognitive functions and reduce hyperactivity.
